Choose a table and prepare your deck

Choose the TCG, format, seat count and offered match length. Take a seat, select a compatible deck and confirm readiness. Multiplayer play requires deck legality. The played composition is frozen at the start to provide a reliable reference for results.

Keep an opening hand

The board deals the profile’s opening hand. Keep it or take a mulligan. When cards must go on the bottom, select exactly the required number in your chosen order; the first selected card will be bottommost. Wait until all players have kept their hands before the first turn.

Follow turns and steps

The active player advances through untap, upkeep, draw, main phases, combat and end of turn. Untapping respects marked card exceptions. In Magic duels, the starting player skips their first draw according to the profile. Players handle upkeep effects, combat, spell resolution and end-of-turn discarding. Displayed time is informational and imposes no automatic turn limit.

Move cards and manage libraries

Drag a card to move it. Click your library to draw; right-click a card to open its menu. Left-click a battlefield card to tap or untap it. Menus include zone browsing and card movements; use library actions to look, search, reveal, reorder or shuffle where available. Hidden hands do not become public by default.

Target and use shortcuts

Hold the right mouse button on a battlefield card and drag towards a card or player to show a target. Keyboard shortcuts: Shift+F10 opens the selected card menu, T selects a target, X creates a token copy, and Space advances one step. A targeting arrow shows intent; it does not independently verify a spell or ability’s legality.

Life, mana, counters and tokens

Adjust life totals and player resources using board controls. Manage permanent counters and characteristics, create needed tokens and remove them according to resolved effects. Mana may empty when steps change; enable retention when an effect requires it. Damage and card effects do not automatically update all these values.

Play your commanders

The Commander profile displays the command zone, tracks casts and commander tax, and offers return choices for relevant movements. Received combat damage is tracked separately for each commander, with the Commander profile’s threshold of 21. Also adjust life manually. These tools do not replace resolving effects or agreeing on a result.

Finish a game and continue a BO3

Propose a winner or draw; other active participants may accept or reject it. In a supported BO3, prepare the next game’s composition, sideboard if permitted, confirm readiness and select the starting player using the offered controls. Two game wins end the match; a draw may require an additional game. Multiplayer and solo remain BO1.

Concession, journal and statistics

A concession may eliminate a player and end the game when only one participant remains. The journal tracks shared actions without automatically revealing private information. Deck statistics use persisted results and the frozen deck, rather than a list edited afterwards. Solo practice and cancelled matches are excluded from competitive results.

Players’ responsibilities

Agree on the format and play conditions. Resolve the stack, triggered abilities, costs, attacks, blocks and damage according to Magic rules. MainTable is not an automatic judge and supplies no AI opponent or integrated voice chat in this foundation. Report issues through available reporting tools.
